The big inning

This stream has stretched
into an ocean
into the widest of seas

 
the beginning how one can be
faintly bright
in this darkness
walking through 
the city of big innings

within Love and the
cosmos
it's
  inevitably
  simple
better  matters

swinging through the carnival of air

The road ahead
empties into
the sky
What's loved and lost
left spilling into an ocean
sinking down tides pink purple and blue
like wet sea flowers beside a human

Drink Recipe: Riviter's Friend

4 oz. dark coffee  
2 teaspoons brown sugar
2 1/2 oz. milk
1/4 oz. Vodka




This drink came from right before the Great Depression. It was used to keep the liquor tolerance
from rising. The theory was that if you drank a little liquor in the morning and then waited
at least until around dinner time to drink, then your body wouldn't build up a tolerance.

The vast night shivers

rising and falling in stillness and quiet
just as you do

what practice
leaning back slightly
it's okay to
remind my ears 
I lessen 
senses gone
so way inside me that I can't end this

as showers stall the afternoon
and heartbeats rock between the
soft gray lights 
only once didn't mean I won't forget
the absence of things
holding upon me
this world
more still than
before I wrote this
